报告摘要：Significant efforts have recently been made in expanding the periodic table of medicinal inorganic chemistry beyond that of platinum. The quintessential cancer therapeutic, cisplatin, has played a transformative role in cancer treatment since its discovery, however, it suffers from limitations including acute and systemic toxicity, a poor therapeutic window, and resistance. Thus, research has been focused on the discovery of novel transition metal constructs that employ unique mechanisms of action to target solid tumors. Herein, the discovery and development of gold-carbene systems capable of inducing novel and targeted anticancer mechanisms will be discussed.
